Milton Martin
March 13, 1947 ~ September 20, 2024
On a cold wintry day, March 13, 1947, a bouncing baby boy, Milton Martin, was born to the late Eunice (Hayes) and Frank Martin in Crenshaw, MS. He joined siblings Frank Jr., Willie, Marie, Arthur, Clara, and Lee Andrew.
His parents decided that they would have better opportunities and schools in Memphis, TN; therefore, the family relocated.
As the years passed, Milton was joined by other siblings: Edward, Henry, Earnice, Gwendolyn, and Brendolyn.
Milton became a baptized believer at an early age under the leadership of Pastor L. D. McGhee at Macedonia M. B. Church.
Milton began his schooling at Dunn Avenue. After completing his elementary schooling, he attended Hamilton High School and graduated in 1966. After graduation, he entered the United States Navy.
While attending Hamilton High School he met Linda Holmes. They were united on August 5, 1972.
After returning from the U. S. Navy, he was employed by the U. S. Corps of Engineers as a machinist and tool maker, where he worked until his retirement.
While working, he attended Memphis State where he obtained more electrical skills.
Milton cared for neighbors by cutting down trees and weeds, laying floors, and repairing houses for those who were in need. He also fed the hungry through Manna Outreach at Mississippi Boulevard Church.
He enjoyed being a Mason and Boy Scout Leader, Troop #144.
Preceding him in death were his parents Frank and Eunice (Hayes) Martin; grandson: Christopher Martin; his grandparents Jim and Connie Hayes and Alto and Laura Martin; his brothers: Frank Martin Jr., Willie Martin, Lee Martin, and Edward Martin and his sisters: Marie Reed and Gwendolyn Martin.
To cherish his memories, he leaves his wife: Linda Martin; his sons: Dr. Milton (Heather) Martin Jr., Christopher Martin, Patrick Martin, and Brandon Martin; daughters: Kimberley Martin and Sierra (Jonathan) Grady; grandchildren: Jordan James, Nigel Martin, Kennedy Blair, Kyla Grady, Isabella Grady, and Gabriella Grady. He also leaves his brothers: Arthur Martin of Oakland, CA and Henry Martin of Detroit, MI.; sisters: Clara Hussey, Earnice (John) Love, and Brendolyn Bradley of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law: Arbrodo Martin of Niceville, FL.; Carolyn Clark of Memphis, TN.; brother-in-law: Anthony (Terri) Holmes of Memphis, TN. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to mourn his passing.
