Lydia Elmira Mills McClinton was born July 29, 1941, to Nola and Willie Mills in Helena, Arkansas.

She was baptized at St. Cyprian Catholic Church. She joined Vision Temple Ecumenical Church.  It was there where she served as a Sunday School teacher and mission worker. Lydia loved her Pastor and Church family. She was dedicated, committed, loyal and giving. A faithful servant indeed it was about serving the Lord and doing the right thing in all relationships, she was faithful and loyal to her church and friends.  She was a devoted and loving mother, a prayer, warrior, a confidant, and true friend.  Ultimately, she knew God as her personal and divine savior. Her education began at St. Cyprian until she started high school at Eliza Miller and graduated. She graduated from Northwest Mississippi Community College and University of Detroit Mercy where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN and Hutzel Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was married to George McClinton and to that union she had George, Thaddeus and Nola. Lydia was known for her kindness, warmth, and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She was a passionate and an adventurous soul whose love for travel defined much of her life. She embraced every journey with an open heart and a curious spirit. Her travels were more than just destinations, they were stories, experiences, and friendships that enriched both her life and the lives of those around her. She enjoyed socializing and traveling with her friends at the Bickford Community Center.
