Georgia Finkbeiner Obituary

Georgia K Owens Finkbeiner, 72, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Memphis, TN, with family.

Georgia was born February 12, 1953 in Wood River, IL. She was the daughter of Buddie Lee and Ethol (Howard) Owens.

She was employed at Fourteenth Colony for 39 years, where she perfected her creativity and craft of making custom light fixtures and restoring antique light fixtures. Creating works of art to light up our lives.

Kay was always supportive of her children through school, scouts and sports. She was an avid bowler and played softball for years. She loved to watch her Memphis State Lady Tigers and UT Lady Vols basketball and volleyball.

Kay was a big kid at heart, she loved her Disney movies, but her biggest love (besides family) was her job. This is where she was able to share her artistic creativity.  Her works can be seen at LeBonheur Children's Hospital and in unexpected places.

Without fail, if any people she knew had a hiccup in life, she reached out and did what she could to help.

She was preceeded in death by her parents,  2 brothers - Thomas Owens and David Owens, and a sister Joyce Fortin.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Joei) Finkbeiner of Memphis, TN and Michael Finkbeiner of Sioux Falls, SD, a companion, Pam McClatchy, 4 grand -children and 4 great-grand-children, 3 sisters - Lois (Dwayne) Herbert of Templeton, MA, Claudia Albert and Margie (Herbert) Johnson, both of Hartford, IL, a brother James (Karen) Owens of Roxana, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation/celebration of life will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday April 26, 2025 at Holy Trinity Community Church in Memphis, TN.

There will be a future celebration of life held in Illinois, time and date to be determined at a later date.
