On November 25, 1961, Darrell Lamont Turner was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Raymond and Christine Turner. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Semiller Douglas Sr. and Dwight Turner, and one sister, Eleanor Dawson.
At an early age, Darrell confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at Greater Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. His faith became the foundation of his life — guiding his decisions, shaping his character, and fueling his heart for service.
After graduating from Fairley High School in 1980, Darrell relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he began his career with FedEx. His strong work ethic, reliability, and warm spirit left a lasting impression on those he worked alongside.
Darrell’s love for God led him deeper into ministry. In June 2016, he was certified as a Minister of the Gospel by the World Ministerial Alumni Association. During his time at World Outreach Center, he faithfully served on the Health Ministry, participated in the praise and worship team, and engaged in small groups. Darrell truly had a servant’s heart. Whether in church, at work, or in the community, he was always ready to lend a helping hand — often accompanied by his signature smile.
In 2021, Darrell returned to Memphis, where he resided with his Aunt Phyllis Wright. Prior to his passing, he was employed with Milwaukee Tool for approximately 15 months. No matter where life took him, Darrell carried with him a spirit of kindness, humility, and unwavering faith.
Darrell leaves to cherish his memory four brothers: Lorenzo Turner, Carnell (Alice) Turner, Reginald (Yvonne) Douglas, and Melvin (Sandra) Turner; and two sisters: Cubi Davis and Tammie (Johnnie) Trotter, all of Memphis, Tennessee. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his love and legacy in their hearts.
Darrell’s life was a testament to service, faith, and compassion. Though he has transitioned from this earthly home, his light continues to shine through the lives he touched.
